Unfortunately, passage of Question 1 in November would further inhibit nurses to be actively involved in making decisions about the safety and welfare of their patients.
“The Massachusetts Citizens’ Initiative Review (Massachusetts CIR) confirmed that Question 1 will increase emergency wait times, eliminate critical hospital programming, prevent hospital admissions across the state and lead to a devastating loss of inpatient behavioral health beds.”
“If passed, the government-mandated ratios and related fines would plunge BID-Plymouth into an immediate financial crisis and jeopardize our current nationally-recognized safety ratings.”
As a practicing nurse, I am deeply concerned about the potential impact to access and patient care from the poorly written, misguided ballot initiative that voters will cast their vote on in November.
“If passed, this ballot question would make it more challenging to provide affordable assisted living to seniors who believe our residential model best fits their needs.”
